FAQ's

With the launch of a new platform, naturally we understand there will be questions based on specific nuances you have in regards to individual and small groups. As the questions come in we will add them onto this page and answer them. It will be continually updated as required with the thinking this area could save time and duplication.

True North Chat

We have received some questions via our "chat" function. Please be aware there is sometimes a delay as this isn't an automated (AI) experience. There are specific True North team members working on the Alpine Challenge, hence their can be a delay in the answers as the "chat" is operating across all group matters. If you submit your email address, we will answer your questions directly. Our chat function is operational Mon - Fri 0900 - 1700

Each question we receive will be added here, where we feel it is of use to others, but will not contain any personal details. Naturally prior to the booking going live on Thursday, there are questions relating to your previous experiences. The page will be updated periodically.

Question - Child Care - 12/08/24

We want to travel with Children, is there a child care option?

Answer

Yes, in the Adler, there is child care. Below is more information from the Adler

"The Kids Club is in the Winter from 14:00 until 21:00.

All the activities are indoor. To use kids club, children should be able to use the toilet independently and to manage the way from the kids club back to their parents independently in event that they leave the kids club on their own"

Question - PAyments 12/08/24

I'm having trouble making a BACS transfer, there isn't a account number/ sort code?My bank doesn't allow me to make international transfers, what can I do?

Answer

This questions has arisen a few times, and we have answered them individually up until now. Our Euro account is held by Natwest. All Euro accounts come only with an IBAN & BIC/ SWIFT number, rather than Acc No./ Sort Code. For those of you wanting to pay by BACS, but can't do this online, Natwest has suggested that you can always call your bank to make the BACS payment, and as an Alternative you can use an intermediate FX platform like wise.com to make the transfer. We have received quite a few payments using Wise already, and it works very well.

Question - Races

When will the race entry open?

Answer

We will be opening this shortly and you will receive an email from the platform to say it's open, and will ask you to complete a task, check which category level race you should be selecting to enter. On the link below you see the simple race and competition categories to help you understand and self assess.

Question - Adler Deluxe - 07/08/24

Are there deluxe and penthouses available to book?

Answer

The deluxe category and penthouse category don't show in the booking platform. If are interested in these categories, we do have potential availability, so please email us direct with your request at hello@truenorthtravel.ski - please give the email a title "RAF Deluxe/Penthouse" and simply give us the details/ request.Where there is availability, these will be offered as a unit price (POI) for the whole apartment/ penthouse.

Question - Adler Apartment Sizes - 07/08/24

What are the sizes of the Adler apartments, and can you guarantee when we book that the group we will be together?

Answer

This is a really good question! The Adler has different size apartments, ranging from 4 beds to 8 beds.Standard apartments - the main bulk of these are for 4 people, there are a couple of 5 bedded ones, however you are best to book as a group of 4.
Superior Apartments - the main bulk of these are for 6 people, so if you are best to book as a group of 6.
Please note, where the apartments are under occupied, these additional spaces will be filled with other bookings. Naturally if you book a group ie 6 people in superior, we will do our best to allot a 6 bed apartment, so you have sole occupancy for your group.

Question - Booking - 07/08/24

Is it possible for individuals to pay for their desired package and then join a group afterwards?

Answer

In theory "yes", however there are some there are some simple areas that need to align. If you want to join a group afterwards we can do that if you have purchased the same accommodation package ie you have booked Adler All Inclusive Superior, the group that you want to join has also booked Adler All Inclusive Superior. The other area we will need to address is whether there is availability within the accommodation ie if a group of 6 has booked, and we have allocated them a 6 bed apartment, add an extra person to the group might not be possible. The best thing is to contact us once you have a group you wish to join, and we will work to find a solution where possible.

Question - Cancellations - 07/08/24

What are the cancellation terms?

Answer

Naturally we don't want that anyone has to cancel and miss out on the Alpine Challenge.

Our standard cancellation terms in our T&C’s ( T&C's | True North Travel ) have been adjusted for the RAF. We understand there are different circumstances as to why cancellations happen, and we always look at the cancellations on an individual basis.

Up to 42 days prior to arrival – A refund of 100% of the value paid minus any taxes or insurance costs applicable.
From 42 days onwards, the following cancellation fees apply

42 – 28 days prior to arrival – 60% of booking value

27 – 14 days prior to arrival – 80% of booking value

13 – 0 days (no shows) prior to arrival – 100% of booking value

Question - Payment - 07/08/24

Do we need to pay in full on the day of booking? Or is a deposit taken?

Answer

You can choose! When you come to check out, there is an option to pay in full, or pay a deposit. The deposit is a fixed €300, with the final balance due in mid October.

Question - Adler Rooms - 06/08/24

Will personnel be on the sofa bed this year or will everyone have a bed?

Answer

Yes, to maintain the best rate possible for the RAF, the sofa beds will be used. The "per person price" is based on sharing in an apartment, and will be a mixture of double beds with two single mattresses and sofa beds.

Question - Adler rooms - 06/08/24

What is the difference between the 3 tiers of accommodation in the Adler?  Can I guarantee my own bathroom?

Answer

This year we only have 2 tiers of accommodation - Standard and Superior. In the booking platform there are descriptions for the two different tiers. Standard apartments are generally smaller with one bathroom which is shared between 4 people, with one bedroom and a double sofa bed in the main living area. A superior are larger apartments, with generally 2 bathrooms for 4 - 6 people. Depending on the apartment size, depends on the number of bedrooms, but there are also double sofa beds in the main living areas which will be used. We cannot guarantee your own bathroom.

Question - booking - 06/08/24

Will the new group system cater to groups where people are attending different weeks?
I will be going both weeks but looking to share with friends attending week 1 only and my partner who is attending week 2. I had a bit of fun organising it with Wasteland last year.

Answer

The platform can't at present do this, however there is a simple solution. Basically you book the two weeks separately. This will mean you have to create two profiles, but it keeps it clean and simple.
Step 1 - book as you would as a group for week 1(date selection would be 11th - 18th Jan 2025)
Step 2 - When it comes to entering your name, please enter your first and last name with a simple (A) and the end ie my name is True North, hence when asked for first name, I would enter True (A), and when asked to enter Surname, I would enter North (A).
Step 3 - Please in the free text box at the bottom of the "create your profile" please tell us that you are booking a 2nd week with a different group. This with the (A) edition to your name will highlight to us that we will see you in another group
Step 4 - When choosing your "add ons" ie lift pass, ski hire etc, in your Week 1 booking, please select the durations for the entire 2 weeks ie please select the 13 day ski pass (rather than the 6 day), and so on for rental. If you are selecting lessons, then you will only be selecting for that particular week ie week 1. If you are taking part in the races, this is a one time fee, so please select this for week 1 (and we will roll it into week two)
Step 5 - Repeat the process for week 2, here are the difference
- Please put (B) as you create the profile for your name
- Please also add the same comment in the free text box in regards to letting us know
- Deselect the "RAF admin fee" as this is a one time paymentContinue your booking. A top tip is if you are booking as a group of friends, let one of your colleagues start the booking process ie selecting the number in the group, selecting the accom package, and then this will send you an email invite to join that group, and you can make the rest of the booking from there.

Please note that win this circumstance we can't guarantee that you will stay in the same room/ apartment for the duration of your stay, however we will endeavour to do our best if the same package/ standard is selected for both the durations

Question - adding group members - 06/08/24

Another a question we’ve recieved is if a Stn creates a booking and they need to add people to that group at a later date can they?

Answer

Yes - The person who made the initial booking ie it was a group of 4 and they went through the process to set up the booking for the others, they can go back in to their registration, and then invite another member. The new member will receive the invite and then can follow the process, finalise their profile, select their "add ons", make payment etc

Question - making a booking - 06/08/24

How do I make a booking?

Answer

Here is the "Booking Guide" document that was sent out in the Facebook group.

Next Steps - Booking Guide .pdf

Question - Accommodation - 06/08/24

I can't seem to book myself into the accommodation that I want, what am I doing wrong?

Answer

The main reason will be that there is no longer any availability in that accommodation type. Each accommodation Type/Style has a limited amount of availability, so once that has been filled, it is no longer available. Simply select a different accommodation where there is availability on your given week.

Question - Lessons - 06/08/24

I want to have lessons, how do I know what ability I should put myself down for?

Answer

You can follow the Self Assess Ability flowcharts below to identify your category. If you are a skier, please follow the SKI document, if a Snowboarder, please follow SNOWBOARD document - Complete the information in the Lessons task on the platform

Question - No accommodation - 06/08/24

Hi, I have a question, probably worth answering via the FAQ too as suspect several others in the same situation. I want to sign up for the champs, without the accommodation, as I have already made own hotel arrangements, but will be taking advantage of the other benefits (transfer, lift pass, etc etc). How do I apply without the need to choose an accommodation option?

Answer

You will be able to book the ancillary items ie ski passes, rentals, race entry and so on as normal once you have registered and created your profile. Simply in the "Accom/Payment tab, you will select "No Accommodation", then you will select the add on's you require and go to check out.

Question - Add On's - 06/08/24

Can the list of add on's not be simplified, there are a lot of them and a lot of accom packages to go through?

Answer

Sadly we can't change the configuration. Please take your time to select the right add on's for you. The bulk of the add on's are the variations in rentals (standards & inclusions). The list of add on's starts with transfers, then ski pass, then rentals, then lessons, finishing with race entry.
